i seem to have mine figured out.
i opened the header.html in dreamweaver and deleted one of the columns.

i put the image in the left most column and it resized the height automatically.

that was essentially my question, how to resize the table height.
noob question i know :P

but on subblack3dblue, just changing the background logo image in themes/subblack3dblue/forum/images isn't enough.

a new image named the same thing works, but doesnt resize the height.
you have to edit the header.
