That's a risky move, you may end up with all kinds of articles linking to performance enhancement drugs, sexual content, etc.

Oh you'd be amazed at what tards can do with an open ended news module. How would you like to visit your site and see a few new articles daily with hundreds of pr0n, racial, hate, or drug related links? Not only that, if the rest of your site is this open ended and free, you may have thousands of links in any area that allows for guest comments.

I thought digg was a blog, not phpnuke or any other cms but I could be wrong :?

Maybe try looking at blog software such as Wordpress or b2evolution.

Lastly, are you sure that when you submit a comment at digg, it automatically gets added to the sites content? I find it hard to believe a site that big would take those kinds of chances. It seems more likely to me that your submission would go into a queue to be approved by a staff member.
