Please help with user menu & news module!!
Hey, im new to this site so i hope im posting in the right place  Anyway the thing is that i have recently installed phpnuke to my server and was wondering how to get rid of the security code when you login on the user menu (like on this site) as on my site it never shows up and i dont really want users to have to keep typing in a code when they login. So any help would be grand. Also (this may sound daft) how do i delete news from the homepage?? Thanks a lot, Karl

PS: Link to my phpnuke site (http://www.fre3.co.uk/Site)[/url]

Hi Karl

To get rid of security code do this:

Edit config.php

Find
$gfx_chk = 7; (or it equals another number)

Change to
$gfx_chk = 0;

If you have CNB Your account make sure security codes on logins is deselected.

To change the home page module goto you Administration panel and below the modules admin panel you should see

Nuke Powered Site: Default Homepage Module
Module Loaded in the Homepage: News
[ Change ]

Select [Change] and that will give you alist of modules to [set as home] select set in home which ever you want. DO NOT DELETE NEWS MODULE It will deselect when you select another module.

Regards

Martyn.

At the bottom of the main admin screen is a list of the last 20 news articles with options to edit or delete them.

This may sound like a stupid comment, but are you logged in as admin? If not you'll need to go here: http://www.yoursitename.com/admin.php and login.

You should be able to edit your news items in the following two ways:

1) Go to administration page: http://www.yoursitename.com/admin.php and scroll down. The structure of this page should be:

- Block #1: Administration Menu
- Block #2: Yoursitename: Default Homepage Module
- Block #3: Who's Online
- Block #4: Programmed Articles
- Block #5: Last 20 Articles

It's Block #5 your interested in, if you can see this page then you can choose to edit your articles from here.

2) If your logged in as admin, you can also edit news articles without going to the admin.php page as follows:

- Click "Read More" on the news article you wish to edit. Doing this will take you to a new page with that stories ID and some menu options on the right side of the article. The structure on the right side of the page should be: Related Links, Most Read Story, Article Rating, Options, Admin.
- Click on Edit under the Admin title
- Edit your article
- Once edited, be sure to scroll down the page and save changes.

Hope this helps.

I had this same problem and searched for about 2 hours for help. Thanks it worked but It use to be available to me as soon as I went into administration menu at bottom of page but it's not there anymore. But at least there is another way to get to it. Thanks for your reply and the time taken to explain it. Much respect...
