Deleting files to save server space

If I don't use a module, such as AVANTGO, Journal or Recommend Us, can I just delete those folders under the Modules folder?

Also, can I go into the language folders and delete all languages other than english?

I know that leaves a bunch of things in the database, but I'll worry about those later (or not worry about it...)

You can certainly remove the language files, that will save some space.
