Does anyone here actually use it in their forums?

I only ask because one of my sites is as follows:

Number of posts: 50070
Posts per day: 34.43
Number of topics: 3512
Topics per day: 2.41

There's a tremendous amount of content considering the site was only created July 3/ 2004. As the memberslist grows, so is the content and I refuse to use autoprune.

Anyone have any thoughts on this matter?

As far as I know you can't use phpbb's gzip.

I tried turning it on once with an excisting site and it would not enable. Recently(November) when I did a clean install I tried to turn it on and still got nothing.

Interesting responses. I've never considered the option that it may not work because I've never been brave enough to actually try it.
