Help! My Internet Explorer is broken
My IE will not open pages in a new window any more! It starts to open it but it never loads it. This is very bad. I installed Mozilla and it works but it's not as fast as IE and doesn't support colored scrollbars and a few other display differences.
Am I going to have to reinstall Windows or what? It's bad I mean, it wont open popups or any links that open in a new window.

No I don't run any popup stoppers. And it's not just javascript that's not working, I mean the java window opens but nothing loads in it. If I right click a link and click open in a new window, it opens but nothing loads in it. And the address bar is empty also.

I'll just stick with Mozilla for now and not discuss this here any more cause it's really not the right kind of topic for this site.

That's ok Martin..this is an Open topic forum...

What version of IE and what version of Windows?

You can reinstall IE, and or Windows without losing any data. But, since you are running your site on your PC. I don't know what effect that will have on that part...you may need to reconfigure some things with PHP and Apache if you reinstall windows.
I would try reinstalling IE.

I'm running WindowsXP with SP1 and IE6 with SP1. I tried reinstalling just the SP1 for IE but it didn't change anything. The reason I am anxious is I have never reinstalled IE before. I know about reinstalling windows though. I want to avoiod that. I don't know if I can uninstall IE or if I should before reinstalling it. (or even if that will fix the problem).
Mozilla seems to have picked up some speed now (it's pretty dang fast), but the toolbar doesn't get skinned by windows.

the only advice i have is, yes, reinstalling windows :?

btw, if you think mozilla is fast, try Opera: www.opera.com

Martin,

Pehaps did you do any other window updates? Sp1 will allow you to delete IE .. then reboot and reinstall .. if that does't work you can reinstall XP .. its much easier than it used to be .. but you need to make sure you select the right option..if you need to make sure on what you need to do.. just PM me..

Well I tried at the windows update site, but the downloads would not start for some reason. I didn't see any updates that really applied to my problem anyway. If someone could advise me on what I need to do to reinstall Interner Explorer I will try that. If that doesn't work I'll just stick with Mozilla or maybe try Opera. Thanks for the input though.
