PHP-Nuke....Is it war?....What is going on? - 05-26-2003, 10:13 PM

The forums of phpnuke.org have gone. Nuke Cops are no longer supporting PHP-Nuke 6.6 and have deleted all reference and links to this program from their site, and they are even talking of splintering into another php program?

Someone get to phpnuke.org? Why have they removed their forums?

Anyone got a scoop on this?

People were quite upset over 6.6 being available to club members only. The fact that there won't be any public releases until 7, means that custom module, block, etc support is more difficult for those of us without access to the new version. Nukecops, due to that fact, stated they wouldn't provide support for 6.6 which is understandable. FB became irritated by all the negative comments, most likely why the forums there are gone.

As far as Nukecops forking off from Nuke, that's free for anyone to do. They are a great bunch of people, and I'm sure it will be a great product.

Well, I for one can say I have not read one thing on what is going on over at phpnuke and nukecops. But I have just heard it ain't purty.

Unfortunate though. Without reading a word I can still say that I am sure this all boils dow toa bynch of "Hot heads" getting overly upset and egotistical about the whole ordeal.
Hopefully it will work out. I myself, will stay out of it. I don't need any part of any headache like what I have heard is going on right now. Nor do I need to be involved.

The fact of the matter is that phpnuke is a great system and hopefully it will continue in one way or another.

You do realize you are going to be flooded on these forums with people needing support, don't you? With the help forums down at phpnuke.org, the people seeking help will have to go somewhere.

I'll bet this is one place on a lot of people's list.

Well for those who missed the PHP-Nuke happenings in the past few weeks... well FB released a commecial license, well then shortly after people revolted and didnt like it so he posted a news article saying that there was not going to be a commecial license. Well then the comments were 99% flames for good reason might I add and that is when FB decided to stop releasing minor revisions to the public.

My opinion:
I dont like it... I am pretty sure I will be converting myself because no forums = no me... I like to use the forums to post about modules I have created for the community such as FatalQuery my Half-Life Server query module. Well FB has begun to dig his hole.. he is acting VERY childish and doesnt know that each time he reacts without thinking he looses several people.. this happend when a huge flame war started on my site and I lost some people... I have now learned and I dont get involved in flame wars on my site...

Seeing that FB has once again lashed out I will definatly be converting to Post-Nuke... there are some things I dont like about postnuke but the community seems to be more stable...All I can say is time will tell.

www.nukecops.com is not working anymore or is again my DNS server which gives me trouble again?

Seems like FB is responsible for a nice CMS but responsible too to split it into PostNuke, MyPhpNuke and now FreePhp (ex.nukecops).

Cause i feel he was the reason when great ppl like those from nukecops split and made their own CMS and the comunity suffered... no more so much and great security involvment for the moment.

I think (hope) that FB to go back and keep the nuke 100% free and to earn his deserved money thorugh donations, ads, so on.... this is the perfect way for everbody .... :?:

qupte from nuke cops:
Quote:
As FB has decided to release PHP-Nuke 6.6 only to club members, and in doing so is technically in breach of the GNU/GPL licence
yea they right in a way, but i mean FB needs to make some money cuz he cant live off nothing... but it really should alll be open source, because if he doesnt keep it open, in my opinion, exactly what is happening now will occur where everyone will migrate to postnuke, phpwebsite, etc. and then FB will lose all his money. I think it was a major risk he took, but if he is willing to take it then so be it.

Eventually someone will release an underground site to get those lil mods, hell, u could prob get it off kazaa or a wimilar prog if u wanted.
