Video capture cards, choosing a good card.
I am strongly considering buying a video capture card for the computer I’m building, if not to upgrade the computer i currently use. There are so many of them out there, and it is difficult to cut my way thru the BS that some cards may boast. I am trying to hit a few different message boards to get a wider range of opinions and recommendations.

Does anyone have experience with consumer priced video capturing cards??

I would like one that has good resolution (at least 640x480), and coaxial and rca input so i can convert family video to mpeg2 and such. A TV tuner and radio tuner would be nice too. Most that i see are between $30 and $100.

Thanks for anyone’s knowledge.

Ati has had those for a while now, except to get an ATI all in wonder with the same performance as a GeForce 4 would cost >$300!!! where the Geforce would cost $150 and the capture card would be another $50 at the most.

Edit:

ATI All In Wonder 9700 $325
ATI All in Wonder 8500 $250

Geforce 4 TI 4800 $150 --has virtually same performcance as 9700
+Vid capture card $30-90 for same functionality as ATI All in Wonder.

I can give you a heads up for the Ge4. I have a Geforce 4600 Ti and I think it runs great. I highly suggest it

From what I read (Maximum PC Magazine), the ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro is the way to go: http://www.maximumpc.com/ranking/rankings2.html
