NukeMod.com Front Page Mod?
Hi Mikem, I really like the News mod in your font page where it display the news and link straight to the forum's threads. Is it some kind of mod from Tom's port site or you guys hacked it? Is there anyway you could share the code with us?
Thanks for you contributions to the nuke community!
Best regards
ConKien

It's the phpbb fetch all mod adapted for Nuke.
The only draw back is that it has to be maually changed with each theme(editing the html part of the index.php file for the mod to match the theme). Just like our Forum Center Posts block. :?
over at http://www.anorscorner.com I believe he has a version of it in his downloads.
I have also tested the mod on Nuke 6.5 and it will work too with some minor adjustments to the code.

Is there supposed to be News in the forum? I can't remember if it was there when I installed the forum and maybe I deleted it.
So.. my question is how to make the thing work like it does here? What do you have to have in the forum and where? (just so I'll know in case someone asks)

Yes I am the same mikem over at Tom's, but I am not a moderator over there.
Martin,
You make a Forum called News. Then look up the News forum's ID. By mousing over the link and looking at what it's id # is.
Then you put that number in the posts.php(where specified) file that is in the MOD folder in the modules/Forums folder.
IF anors version of the phpBBfetchall is anything like ours.
I'll go ahead and zip ours up. REMEMBER, it has to be modified JUST liek the Center Blocks for the Forums that we include with our theme packs in order to match your theme.

Ok the file you need to edit to make it match your theme is the modules/phpbb2_News/index.php
Toward the bottom of that file, you will see the html..It looks almost exactly like the same html found in the themes/YourTheme/story_home.html file
Read the readme for install instructions.

Mikem,
I'm wondering if you can modify it so that specific topics can be talked about in their own forum.
For example, if you had a news categories called general nuke, could you link the news items posted in that category, to the same category in the forum instead of a general news category?
I hope that make sense.

mmm..you kinda lost me..Do you mean having it so that this mod can be used with Forums that are named differently than News? I know it can only pulll the posts from one Forum, but I'm sure the "name" of the Forum you want to pull the posts from can be changed. Try chaning the Forum ID that you have to put in to a Different Forum and see if it works..

No, that isn't what I meant actually. I've since downloaded the files and taken a closer look and it wont work for what I'm trying to accomplish. I also looked at the news module briefly.
I allow my users to submit news, and have different categories available for them to submit news into. What I wanted was to change that comment link that shows up at the end of the article, to either create a new thread in the forum so the article could be discussed there, or to add to an existing thread, if one was already created.
I know that I'd have to mod the news/comment.php I'm just not sure how much, or what other files would have to be mod'd as well.
