Hacked... - 01-05-2006, 08:12 PM

Well after getting the cookies straight, everything has been running smooth. That is until I get an email saying that a user wants to join my usergroup. I get these from time to time as all the guild members filter in to the new site. I click..but it takes me here http://hackedbyhaute.sitemynet.com/. It pretty much says..you've been hacked. I goto my site, all seems well I add the user from the usergroups area and come back out to the forum..get some odd php errors from the header and now none of the module pages will load..it won't let me log in says user doesn't exist. I went to phpmyadmin and the database is there as is the table with the user names.

Should I reload the modules folder? The main page is fine..the teamspeak block is there and working as is the survey..sorry to be back so soon..but I'm at a loss as to where to start.

*edit - Getting this error when I click on the forums link..is someone overloading my database?

The above error mentioned no longer applies. My site has reverted to the way it was in this thread. http://www.nukemods.com/modules.php?...ewtopic&t=5910

Brutal.

I have no idea what you can do to fix this to be perfectly honest, hopefully one of the other big brains here does.

I think you'll definately want to take this opportunity to look into adding security software to your site such as sentinal.

I'm going to go look into upgrading my version to 7.6. Maybe it's a security exploit someone is using.

Certainly sorry to hear that. I went back through your posts but didn't see what version you were running. Is your site very far along, or can you start fresh? Either way I would use Raven's distro that has Sentinel installed for security.

I'm using 7.5 right now.

Just to make sure here. If I follow the directions in the installation folder properly and make no mistakes on my part, this shouldn't overwrite my databases right? I did make a backup of those earlier today before everything crapped out..but just asking.

I'm using the nuke toolbox and when I try to view my database settings with it, I get his error again.

Do you think that the hacker or maybe some bad code in the site is flooding the database and setting off an interlock?

As I said in my PM, I haven't a clue. It almost loox as if your db is being queried too much and is rejecting it. I've seen similar errors when trying to upload large files to a db but whether or not there the same error I have no idea.

Sorry.

Nuke and phpbb can be DB intensive, and your host is limiting DB queries to less than 50,000 an hour. See if they can increase that or find a host that does not set limits for max_questions.
