Help on site design - 12-01-2004, 01:32 PM

Hey I am trying to design a sports news website that will display the latest news on my high school's sports the thing is I want the site to change based on the season which should happen automatically based on specified calendar dates. Additionally, I want the main page to display the 5 newest articles for every category (track, basketball, wrestling, swimming, and etc.) Have a spot for rankings and you choose which sport you wanna see with a drop down box and the rankings will update and then have a mini calendar at the top displaying upcoming sport competetions.

The most important feature I want is to have users be able to submit articles from the site and then have them validated, if they are not administrators, or just posted, if they are admins.

How can this be done?

Later on I want to be able to create RSS feeds and alerts through IM and email/txt messaging.

i have a site "skeleton" here:

http://img121.exs.cx/img121/1606/sports.jpg

obviously I am going to put images here instead of boxes like a better example of what i am looking for:
www.wakeforestsports.com

thank you,
praful

This is a PHP-Nuke theme site. Are you running PHP-Nuke? Are you planning to do so?

All of your requests are things that would need to be done using a database of somekind. Either a PHP/mySQL combination or maybe ASP.

Better buy some good coding books.
