Chronicles Suggestion - 01-11-2003, 07:21 PM

Whohoo you are redoing the Chronicles theme!!! I think that is great as it is one of the main themes one of my nuke sites uses.

Anyways one of the most common complaints I get from my users is the linked text color. It almost makes the link invisible against the woodgrain background. Examples of this are when looking at topic_view go to the bottom and try to find the Watch this topic for replies link. Hmm don't see it? Well mouse around the lower left, woot there it is nice and yellow when you mouse over it

I tried to go into the CSS and change it to a better color but of course it changed the colors of other links that looked ok when on the parchment background. Anyways was just curious if there was anyway you could fix this minor problem when you release this theme.

Thanks and keep up the great theming job!!!

Glad to see some input...hehe
I noticed the exact same thing myself. I wonder why Jakob did the template that way...surely he had the same compaints. Regardless, we will fix it before the release definately.
Thanks for the "heads-up" :-)

Well, poo.
Jakob did the tempalte fine. The problem is that when we ported it to Nuke, for some reason, those links at the bottom are using the style sheet from the Nuke theme...dangitt. A few links in the Forum tempaltes tend to do that. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to use the colors I wanted it to use. I even tried hardcoding the font colors in the tpl files that display the Watch Topic etc. but no go...SOOOO,

I got mad and made the stupid table where those links are have a background..Tell me if it looks cheezy.

For the life of me, I cannot get it to use the style from the forum. But as an alternate, we can now see those links..HEHE!..

dangitt!

mikem

my head hurts now... :?

hehe mikem, doesnt look cheesy at all. maybe if you added the wood effect as a border, might bring it out more.

but you also cant see the links up on the top of the page

Mikem

I use this theme on my regular phpbb board. I changed the links to users names to white so they would stand out better.

The ones about moderation are in the bottom box are black (I don't remeber if I changed them or they came that way). You can see it here if you like.

Thanks,

I had to play with it for some time to get colors to show up. The other thing was a topic has more then one page, the go to link, was really hard to read. I noticed the same problem here.

There was complaints about the original font size too. Felt like telling them to change their screen res LOL getting cynical in my old age, I thinkthe actual problem isn't the font size (I did make it slightly larger) but the texture of the background. If the font was a heavier weight it would be much easier to read, regardless of the actual color.

One thing that I would like to see is when you use code, or quote that the color be significantly different, so its easier to see what is being said. Like if the box the code and quote show up in was a dark solor, with a light font. It would make it obvious to anyone reading it that it is quote or code. My users usually just use bold whatever they are quoting or change the color.

IACOJ..could you possibly send me your css style sheet or any other files that you changed to get the Font and link colors more readable?

As I said in my above post, Nuke's css style is affecting the template style sheet...
The template for Chronicles looks fine on a regular phpBB, but with Nuke and the so called "clash" of the css style sheets comes into play.

you can email me the files, that would be great. My email is in my profile.
