Hi there!
Have installed phpnuke 6.5 (both fresh install, and new upgrade!)
When i click on the Forums or Private MEssage link, it seems like the server "hangs" exactly 180 secs (3 minutes) before delivering the page.
Have anyone else expirenced this problem?
The server is running Linux 7.3, php 4.1.2 and mysql 3.23.54, Apache/1.3.23. (i know there is some xploits on this versions, but haven't upgraded yet, will doh!)
Anyone got a solution for the 3 minutes hang problem???

Seems like some had this problem, and others don't...
Most of the users at my site is using Windows XP, so i think there might be an issue with some security patches installed on the local machine, but then again, wo should the server "wait" for 180 secs before fetching the page?
can i be a browser problem? have tested with both internet explorer and opera.. same result..

I think it may be more of a Server side issue.
Are you hosting your site on a local computer?
Can you give us a link?

Hey, I know this is an old problem, but I'm still having it.
I have the same setup - Red Hat 7.3, php 4.1.2/MySQL 3.23, 1.3.23. This is an unpatched server that runs on a local network for development purposes only.
The issue is my PHP error reporting. When there is an error in the script, it takes -- every time -- exactly 3 minutes and 9 seconds for the page to load. Otherwise, it works normally.
I used to have error reporting working OK when I set up this server, but I recall at one time, HTTP output was getting cached in the browser to the point it was difficult sometimes to truly "refresh" the page, so I must have done something to the web server??? But can't remember what.
I don't think this is PHP's fault, but there is nothing unusual in the Apache error logs.
Any clues, anyone?
- T.

what do your Apache Error and Access log files show?
BTW: I upgraded my Apache, MySQL and PHP on my RH9.0 Linux server and it really wasn't that bad.
The MySQL was easy, just used the RPMS for Fedora.
As for the PHP, had to compile and configure that as well as Apache.
Currently, I run
PHP 4.3.9
MySQL Server 4.0.21
Apache 2.0.52
on RedHat 9.0
