2nd "News" module wanted
Hello!

I have two types of news in my site. For one I am using "News" module, and its working fine.

For the other I want the same type of 'News' module, which can share the "Stories_Archive" with the default "News" module.

To have such a module, I duplicated the default "News" module, but that didn't work the way I wanted, because it was sharing All the news messages with the first one. It was just like making two access ways for a single place.

Can someone please give me any idea, how to make such a 2nd News module?

A second news module? Maybe I'm confused. Why don't you just create more topics in the news module. Or tell it to publish somewhere other then articles?

Can you explain a little more what you want it to do? Where you want it displayed etc. So we can help you better.

IACOJ,

After reading your reply I tried posting the new stories in other than Article (in new Catagories that I had made). But that trick didn't work. It would publish the new story in the same page where the other stories are. When I used to select "No" option for "Publish in Home" it would publish the new story directly in 'Stories_Archive'.

I want a separate new file (URL address in my site) for some of my new stories. I want some of my new stories to be published in that new URL, but not in my main home page (my home page is News module).

Later for that new file (URL address) I am going to make a shortcut in the Modules/menu (like the other have i.e. home, feedback, topic, etc have).

hope I have made my point clearer this time.

Everything you post will be archieved.

Letts say you have a topic news which goes on the front page, and you have a topic sports news which has a seperate url.

Create the topic sports news

When you go to publish the news itself, it will ask you once for the topic to publish under, (sports news) and it will also ask where to publish it (now set to articles) select sports news in there as well.

Then you can choose if you want it published to the front page or not.

Now to find your story that you just pubished, you can go to a couple different places but to keep things simple, click on topics and sports news will be listed there, and inside that will be an archieved list, however you can create a link to that topic itself, that you can put in main menu.

Otherwise you could look at an enhanced news module, but I'm not sure it would do what you want it to. I don't actually use it so I'm afraid that I can't help much there.
