smartDark forum theme won't install.
I want to use smartDark forum theme, but not the site theme for it.. I'm using nuke-6.5 and I downloaded smartDark from this site for 6.5.

Here's what I did after unzipping.. I went in and uploaded the folder "forum" from the smartDark zip to my site's modules/Forums/templates folder. I went to the forum admin panel, to styles->add and it was not there. The "forums" folder in smartDark contains the "images" folder, the aggreement.tpl, and the stylesheets, so I thought that was the right place to put it..

I am hoping it's not because I have to use both themes at once.. I really like my site theme already but I think smartDark is very nice and goes well with it. If that is the case, how can I just use the smartDark forum theme without the other theme?

Thank you for any advice..

If you want to use 2 differant themes you have to do this:
Download the smartDark theme
Unzip the file.
Look for the folder forums/ (it will be in themes/smartDark/forums/)
Upload the whole folder into themes/YOUR-THEME/
so after that it will look like themes/YOUR-THEME/forums/
With YOUR-THEME I mean the theme that you want to use.

That's It

Send a message via AIM to ReNeGaDe
replace the 'forum' folder in the theme youd like to keep ( themes/YOUR_THEME/forum/ ) with the smartDark forum folder. the theme should then use the smartDark images and templates instead of the them you currently have installed.

EDIT: damn mighty, you must have been posting near the same time i was lol...well, two explanations now in case he cant understand one :P

Thank you both for the help. I uploaded the smartDark "forums" folder to themes/Mytheme/ folder. I was able to add it and install it.. however, when I went to configuration to set the default theme to smartDark, that option wasn't there, but there was an empty slot in the drop-down list. (Usually it's just subSilver, no other slot..) So I selected that thinking that maybe the name didn't save correctly. And now I'm able to see the forum theme from the site, but I can't access anything in the admin panel. I keep getting these types of errors:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not open template config file

DEBUG MODE

Line : 349
File : /home/nwn/public_html/includes/functions.php

and..

Warning: Failed opening './../templates/forums/theme_info.cfg' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/nwn/public_html/modules/Forums/admin/admin_styles.php on line 78

Plus, many of the images on the forum do not show up. (custom-nwn.com) Because they are set like this:

themes/smartDark/forums/images/logo_phpBB.png

instead of:

themes/Best/forums/images/folder_big.gif

Which files do I need to edit to make it point to the new location?

Thanks for all the help again.. I really do appreciate it.

Are you new to Nuke 6.5??
You didn't had to add smartDark and the Default theme for the forum is always the same as for Nuke so if your smartdarks forum folder is placed in themes/YOUR-THEMES/ and that theme is your sites default smartDark will be your default on the forums too.

So to fix it go into your database go into your table nuke_bbthemes and delete there smartDark.
Then go into nuke_bbconfig and look for default style and change it to 1
Then go into your site and go to nukesadmin and change the default theme to the theme you want.
Then go to the forums an you should see smartdark there and in your nuke will YOUR-THEME be used.

Sorry for the long explenation in difficult english (for me ) so if you don't understand it please mikem or the others save him from my terrible english .

Yes I am new to 6.5.. I have only used matching themes with 5.6 & 6.0 before so never had these problems. I'm sorry my questions are probably pretty obvious to everyone but I really couldn't figure this out by myself..

In nuke_bbthemes I deleted the empty table (I did not have a smartDark.. just a blank one) And I went to nuke_bbconfig but there was no 'default style' anywhere on there. It has override_user_style but that's the only thing dealing with styles that I saw. I am looking for it in other databases now..

In nuke 6.5 you don't have to add the themes anymore in forumsadmin, you always leave the default theme to subSilver. The matching themes have to be in thmes/YOUR_THEME/forums. So with the Fiblack theme you can put the forums folder from fiapple and you have a theme with fiblack as nukes theme and fiapple as forums theme.

To fix your problem this
Code:
default_style
does exist in nuke_bbconfig but you have to browse that table or youcould use this query
Code:
UPDATE `nuke_bbconfig` SET `config_value` = '1' WHERE `config_name` = 'default_style' LIMIT 1 ;
And that's all. I hope it's fixed because I don't know if i can keep explaining it with my limited english.

When I put:
Code:
UPDATE `nuke_bbconfig` SET `config_value` = '1' WHERE `config_name` = 'default_style' LIMIT 1 ;
in nuke_bbconfig in the text area that says

Quote:
"Run SQL query/queries on database nwn_nuke1 [Documentation] Fields"
right above it.. then I hit 'Go' and it says: "Affected rows: 0"

I still don't see that field. I know this is very frustrating, believe me, I've never had so much trouble with a theme before, but I do appreciate all your help. Is there any way I can just get subSilver back? I don't even care about smartDark anymore.

[Edit: When I go to nuke_bbconfig -> browse, these are the fields I see:
config_id, board_disable, sitename, site_desc, cookie_name, cookie_path, cookie_domain, cookie_secure, session_length, allow_html, allow_html_tags, allow_bbcode, allow_smilies, allow_sig, allow_namechange, allow_theme_create, allow_avatar_local, allow_avatar_remote, allow_avatar_upload, override_user_style, posts_per_page, topics_per_page, hot_threshold, max_poll_options, max_sig_chars, max_inbox_privmsgs, max_sentbox_privmsgs, max_savebox_privmsgs, board_email_sig, board_email. ]

I know that if I did that it would work even I didn't test it, but when you don't understand me it will be very difficult to get your site back in a normal state. As I said before you'd better ask Mikem because I can't explain in english what I want to say. I hope for you Mikem or someone else is here to help you out.

I'm sorry,
Mighty_Y

[edit] to answer your edit, I'm going to make a screen capture to help you out because now I know what your problem is
