Updated nukemods Themes
Greetings all and may I add that the Nuke community would have been that much poorer for never having nukemods.com

My site is http://www.dadanuke.org and I have over the past year, been converting nukemods.com themes for 7.9 and higher. Truth is, I never wanted to be a 'theme site' perse but because my love for nukemods theme packs and wanting them to work with current version(s) of PHP-Nuke.

All that said, my proposal is to request becoming part of staff here at this site and contributing the theme packs I have updated. That way there is no confusion, the files are all in one place and truly give credit where credit is due.

Thanks for the time and consideration...and keep up all the good work :!:

Regards,
Kevin

Distribution of themes
Forgotz, I was just wondering if you ever got a response.

I've been working recently on updating one of the Nukemods themes (Helius) for compatibility with Ravennuke 2.10. I've also resolved all html 4.01 compliance issues. Actually "rewriting" would be a better description of what I did than updating ... all the evals are eliminated and the HTML code is in line now for easier programming and better performance. And the theme validates against w3c which would never happen with the "old" one.

At any rate I tried PM'ng the moderators here (three so far) but I've get to get any response about distribution. Unlike you, I don't want to be part of the site team here and all I need to do is distribute my theme.php and tables.php. The html files aren't needed anymore but the user would have to get the image files here at Nukemods.

I really don't care how it gets done. I'd happily contribute my files to Nukemods and tell Ravenuke Helius users to get them there. I'd happily make my files available on my own site and tell the users to get the rest from Nukemods. Whatever. What I do is open source. I'm trying to respect the distribution "requests" I see on nukemods and read in the readme files but when they don't respond it makes it more difficult.

Wait, wait, wait, I did respond to you, pretty much immediately I may add. I told you to contact coldblooded as I have nothing to do with the themes and/or theme creation process here at nukemods.com.

Don't go giving the impression that we've hung you out to dry because that simply is not the case.

Sorry if ...
I misled anyone. I PM'd, the moderator who had posted the announcement here about distribution initially. Not getting a response I PM'd you (Duke) because I saw you on here frequently. You referred me to Coldblooded and I appreciate that. I PM'd her or him. Not getting a response I posted
in the most relevant Forum topic I could find.

I can probably be justly accused of being impatient. Sorry for that. I would just like to work out a distribution arrangement your site would approve of.

As soon as I see him I'll be sure to point him in the direction of this post. Sorry but your original post sounded accusatory in nature which is why I responded in the manner I did.

I know cb has been busy in his "real life" lately so it can be a bit hard to get in touch with him.

I'll do what I can to put you two in touch asap.

Ken

Thanks Duke and Coldblooded
CB has replied very generously and it looks like Helius for Ravennuke 2.10 will be hosted here if the changes I made are satisfactory. And I very much appreciate the review by you themes specialists since I'm just a part timer at that.

Again sorry for my impatience and any "tone" that might have seemed "accusatory". I was just enthusiastic to get this done. The Helius theme looks great visually and I was anxious to have it fit right in with Ravennuke 2.10 and meet the needs of some of the folks in our Forums there.

On a technical level, anyone interested in programming themes might want to look at:

http://www.alternateinterior.com/200...eformance.html

which discusses the eval function. This is used heavily in some of the themes and I've been eliminating it on a case by case basis from Ravennuke version of themes (though the project will not be completed for all themes by the release of 2.10).

Simple misunderstanding my friend so I'll take the blame here as well.

I wish I was a script guru but I really fumble my way through .php although I can hold my own in .html and .css. Mostly what I do is modify themes that fit a particular need I have such as:

http://www.gamemoviemaking.com

I've only just begun really with the modification process with this theme and I'm still unsure of whether or not W3C even matters for gmm at this time.

Anyway, thanks for clearing it all up and good luck with the new theme!

Ken

BTW, it looks like there's a ton of eval in this theme so I guess it's just something else to pile onto the "To Do" list.
