My members are recieving this message when they try to upload thier avatars unto their profiles

How do I fix this problem? What could be causing this? I've gone into "Forum Configurations" and into "Prefrences" and can't figure out why they can't upload thier avatars.

Did you change or rather have you checked the permissions

ie: 755 should work

Had the same problem and not even CHMOD solved it.
