News submittal messed up??
Hi all....take it easy on me....I'm new to PHP-Nuke. My problem is this....I'm testing my new 7.5 installation and the news submittal only seems to be working while logged in as admin. When not logged in as admin, I submit the article and it waits for approval. When I login as admin to approve it, it shows up in the submissions list with a title of "No Subject", has no content, and has no author or date. I also can't delete these entries....I now have 5 or 6 of them. It happens with my user account (when not logged in as admin) and also with a test account. The submittal works fine if I'm logged in as admin and it doesn't have to go through the approval process. I'm pretty sure I went through every darn menu looking for something I missed......any ideas?

Thanks in advance....

Interesting.....now when I try to go to "Users" in module administration I get a white page with "Illegal file access"?? WTF? Have I got a permissions issue?

Thanks

This one is really stumping me. I even added the N-submitter hack. With the hack in place when logged in as admin the articles don't automatically show up.....they go through the approval process. Which means they get screwed up. They go into my admin's box for approval but show up with no contents and I can't delete them. Anything that goes through approval isn't working. Any ideas?

so....I go into _queue in the database and all of the submissions are there....complete with subject, author, etc. So why isn't this information being passed along to my submissions page?

Just in case it's relevant and since I'm new to nuke....here's what I've got. I've got two "Topics".....news and articles. When I submit those are the topics that show up in the pulldown to select from and it doesn't matter which one I choose...I have the same outcome.

c'mon guys....I can keep talking to myself for days but sooner or later I'll get sick of him.....lol I'm willing to try just about anything at this point.

Thanks

I just realized it's doing the same thing with any submissions that require approval. My downloads are messing up too.

Someone is talking to themselves...hehe :P

Seriously.
Have you tried going back to square one?
If it were me, I would uninstall any and all hacks that have anything to do with any of the News module.
Go back to the default News module.
Also, with your recent problem with file permissions, you might have some file corruption somewhere else.
Re-upload "good" files to make sure the ones on your FTP server are not corrupted in some way.
It may all be linked together somehow.

thanks mike....I'll try that. Fortunately I've allowed myself enough time to debug all of this new code before I switch our DNS pointers. For once I thought ahead....lol I'll let you know how it goes....

WOOHOOO!!....fixed it. It was bothering me so much and I couldn't find anyone else having the same problems.....I knew it had to be something I screwed up and it was probably something simple. It usually is....
So here's what it was: I changed my server type in config.php from "mysql4" to "MySQL". Evidently having version 4 doesn't mean you can set it to version 4. As you can imagine that setting messed up a lot of stuff.....but all is well now and I didn't have to re-install!!! I'm so happy I could crap myself....and my wife will be thrilled that I can spend some time with her now watching stupid tv shows.....lol. Thanks for the support.
