PHP Nuke and PHPBB
Hi,
I already had a phpBB forum on my site, but I decided to add PHP Nuke as well. Is there a way to incorporate all the user/pass info from phpBB to also work for PHP Nuke?

Also, is there a way to disable the "security number" everytime someone logs on to php nuke?

Thanks.

-TJ

In order to use your phpBB with Nuke, you need to convert your phpBB data to the phpBB data within Nuke.
There is a conversion tool at
http://www.nukeresources.com
that will do this.

This is kind of confusing to the n00b users like me. I have a site that I took over www.tekrangers.com Its running PostNuke both as the content manager and forums.

I would like to change the theme (which is a custom built one) but the postnuke site doesn't have as many as this one. I like the variety of themes for php-Nuke plus these forums are pretty active.

My ultimate goal would be to change from PostNuke to php-Nuke. But I need to be able to transfer all the forums over. The forum data is in a MySQL db but for PNphpBB2.

So I guess my question would be is this even possible or would I have to start all over again with the forums? Also when you are told to backup your DB is that from within PostNuke Forum Admin or MySQL export?

Thanks in advance for helping me out!!!!!

IMO, a MySQL export is more reliable than the Database save feature in Nuke.

Hello everyone, I've tried everything I could think of to convert the users and board tables from phpBB2 v2.0.10 to Nuke 7.4. So far, I've had limited success. Things I've tried...

1) MySql backup of the phpbb users file. Changed the prefix to nuke_ and installed on the table at the nuke install. While I can see the users in the board files, the same users can't log in using the same user name and pw as on the old boards. Odd, as I figured that should have carried over once the user table was installed. It does overwrite the user table in Nuke.

Now, one thing it didn't do was carry over the main admin from my phpbb board (me). While my name is in the nuke tables, it doesn't show on the boards, nor can I log in to the boards or site using that name and pw.

2) Downloaded and changed the prefix for all the phpBB boards and installed them to the nuke tables. I can see the boards, posts, headers...etc from the board and all the users but me is shown as moderators for the boards. For some reason, I'm shown as 'anonomous'. I've tried to update the anon profile to reflect my original user and pw and of course I get a 'User name already taken" message. Hmmm.....and still, nobody that shows in as a registered member of the board can log in. Odd...

So, back to trying something different or a new approach. Non of the convertors I've tried seems to work. I keep getting errors from each and every one of them. While they seem to connect to the data base ok, they error on the conversion. So, I went back to manually converting the MySql backup files to reflect the Nuke prefix.

Still limited success using this method. Users from my phpbb can't log into nuke. An option to me would be to use the new nuke site and my old phpbb site and make everyone use two log in's but that's not my first choice. It sure would be handy to use the cool features of board intergration in the nuke install.

Another problem I'm having if I chose option 2 is to link the "forums' button to my old phpbb site. I'm having problems finding out how to do that. Seems no matter what I try, it still shows the link to /modules/forum. I can make a new block and use HTML to link it, but the button on top still links to modules/forum.

I'm using the PH2Blue theme from Lorkan....

I'm at my wits end and need someone with more experience to solve this issue. It just doesn't make sense to me that the user tables won't allow log in from any users of the old board, so I'm begging for help...lol

HI Mike and yes, I did that first...lol

I can connect to the database ok, and the parameters are correct in the config, but I get an Sql error saying there is no such file or table. Odd thing is, it finds the phpBB db and shows me the tables. When I click convert, it runs for a short while, say a min. or so, then displays a sql error stating there is no nuke.phpbb.[table name]. What strikes me odd is, there really isn't any tables that have a prefix of nuke.phpbb. That makes me think it's creating or trying to create a temp set of table first??
