What's smtp got to do with posting a reply? :| - 02-25-2005, 06:43 PM

Any ideas as to why I would be getting this error when just replying to a post?

I could understand it if I checked notify me of replys but that's not checked.

The reply gets posted but I get this message after replying..

Code:
Couldn't get mail server response codes

DEBUG MODE

Line : 203
File : /www/u/user/htdocs/hq/includes/smtp.php
Thank you...

In your phpbb admin have you got SMTP activated ?

Either turn it off (no) or check your smtp settings.

As it says :

Well, was the SMTP activated ? as for replying to a post, who ever started the thread would be sent a mail.

The error is an internal error not nessessarly pointing at you.

Emm I really cant answer your question fully because iam just guessing what the problem is, please exactly explain your settings and or website address so I can see it etc...

Iam not that well up on Newsletter programs, however this setting (SMTP) is for using an outside mail address.

So question where is your Newsletter email address setup ?

Have you got the address setup somewhere on line or in your ie: outlook express ?

Basically your settings for this address would be someting like the following.

webmaster@somewhere.org ( your newsletter email address )

mail.somewhere.org (could be mail1 or something similar but usually mail)

usename ( for this address )

password ( for this address )
