customizing the news module
I've thought about adding some features to the news module.
First, I'd like users to be able to add pictures to their news posts easily with them hd-browse thingies.
Next a field where you can add keywords that relate to the news. They could then be sorted by these keywords. Also letting others tag news articles with these keywords would be cool.

So what I need to know is how massive of a project is this for someone with only little experience in php? Also, if there already is something similar out there, I'd like to know.
Thanks a bunch.

First thing you need to do is edit the index.php in the News module
You need to add the additional items to the form that you want.
That's the easy part.

Here comes the hard part.
Edit your database tables accordingly to store the added info you want.

Doesn't sound too hard but I just realized there is no need for this to be done with the news module. Just an object submitting/browsing module that let's you submit them with a neat form and sort them by date, author or whatever. There must be tons of sites that have something like this so next I'll see if I can find such a module and try adding the keyword stuff to it.
Anyone know any?
