How to make News Module shorter in width? - 07-04-2007, 10:20 AM

I'm having problems because people's other screens might be huge like a 30" widescreen and it will be hard for them to read the news on the front page.

I'm using the fiblack3d theme. I need to make it shorter in width. I tried opening the story_home.html. It let me make the news posts shorter in width but not the first post for some reason.

By the first post, are you referring to the message box above the news?

The news posts are way too long. Probably because I added the right blocks to be shown..

In all honesty I wouldn't be modifying my site to accomodate users with 30 inch monitors, I bet they're only a very very small percentage of your visitors. If you start messing around making your site easier for those users you'll probably make it even worse for normal monitor users.

Agreed. Though large and widescreen monitors are in wider use these days, I would still make your site look as good as it can at smaller resolutions. Most hosts have some type of stats available for you, many show the resolution of your visitors, that's a good way to see what the majority of them are running when they visit your site.

Of course that's only my opinion, I'm still not clear on what you're trying to accomplish. A link to your site would be helpful.

The community manager of Petroglyph Games (Developer) advised me to make the news posts less wide so that people with different resolution wont have a problem. Or is there a solution that will keep the news posts in a way that it'll stay that width or shorter?

One option is to make the theme fixed width.
