Modifying a a theme?
OK I've been looking around and havn't found much help so I figured I'd ask all you smart people I have a theme called zonecoper. I recently puchased a new theme that I thought I'd like but turns out its not quite what I want. What I'd love to do is mix the two. Now i've modifyed my zone copper theme to a point. But there are bigger modifications I'd love to do but Im not sure how. For instance. instead of just making my own banner that fits in the zone copper premade banner, I'd like to remake the whole area. I have made the graphic but it's about twice the height of the one that comes with the theme. I"d also love to mess with changing the borders that go around alll the blocks and such. As far as the layout I like, I'd really just like to change and mess with the skin of it. Now I am verry familuar with photoshop and a little familuar with Dreamweaver. I thought maybe I could load up a php file in DW and view it like you would an html file but it's not quite working like I thought it might. So how just do I go about drastically changing the look of my theme and making it all still fit together and all? Any help would be verry much appreciated!

        </tr>

It should be pretty simple to make small changes to the html files in that theme. The blocks.html will control the blocks look. The story_home and story_page.html will control the News block look and "readmore" look. Same with the header adn footer.html files. There is also a css file that controls a lot of "stuff" Remeber though you will also need to play with the forum css style sheet if you change the themes css style sheet. Both need to match. Or both need to call the same style sheet(more simple).

Either way, it is time consuming and will test your nerves. You'll just have to dive in and start modifying. Make a backup of your original files before editing.

Im trying to do something similar. I have a theme I downloaded (big shot) that is heavily green and im trying to change it to more blue. But It doesnt seem to have block.htm or any other .html in the theme directory. I have tried mucking with the style sheet and it doesnt seem to affect the areas im trying to change (background color, menu text color among others). Any ideas?

Its quite likely that the colors your trying to change are not in the .css but in the theme itself.

Some parts of the theme are image files. If you're looking to change backround, text colors etc. they
will be in the CSS file or in the header.html file.
