ok, I followed mikem's directions...the only part I'm still unclear about is actually making the block... here are the steps I am taking (feel free to correct me )

I first goto my nuke admin panel.....then goto blocks. Then I go down to the section where you can make a new block. Here are the fields, and what I entered in them:

Obviously, I'm making a mistake somewhere. I added the code to my theme.php exactly how mikem told me, and also I made sure that my /gallery/index.php was set to include block-random.php ....any ideas?

Here is the best thing I have found to put random pics on your site! Easy as making a folder, putting some pics in it, put that folder in your nuke images folder, and putting a file in your blocks directory!!

Get some images you like (thumbs work best), and place them in a directory called "random" inside the existing php-Nuke images directory. Put the file block-RandomPic.php in your blocks directory. Then activate the block.
I just used the thumbs from my gallery, copied them to my new random directory.
This block, will fetch a random image from that folder, and put it on your page, can be anything you want.

This works even if you don't have a gallery. Make it a center block and you could use larger (640xX) images.

I'm trying to provide an easy way which doesn't require changing any files. For anyone who can not get the one this topic is for.

Another possible fix for the Gallery block...

I was fooling with it more today.

Make sure you have NAMED your Albums, not just the Album title, but rename the album itself as well.

In your gallery you see your Albums. You'll see edit title, edit description, delete album, rename album, and so one..RENAME your ALBUMS to match the title is the best.

Check your albums folder on yoru FTP..if there is a block-random.cache file in there, delete it and let the random block re-generate it.

Try that and then see if the gallery block will work.
Also make sure your thumbs are no bigger than 150 pixels, cause if you do get the Block to work and your thumbs are bigger, they will break the sides of the block. The block seems to work best on the right side too.
