articles and news not showing, help please - 01-30-2003, 06:32 PM

Hi everyone,

I've finally given public access, and already there is a problem.

News submissions and articles don't show up. :?

That presents a bit of a problem. Anyway if anyone has ideas on how to fix it I would appreciate it.

Have you installed wysiwyg, I ask because it relpaces some files that generally mess up everything. It's pure trash.

LOL yes I did, got it working too. Far as I can tell from the files though the only thing that was added to the files was include lines calling the wysiwyg editor.

I tried to add the stories through my admin add story, I don't remember that the news thing that was supposed to show up on the home page being there before. You don't happen to know what files I need to check for do you?

It is hard to define your problem. What module do you have as in the home?
Have submit news activated? Surely you do. And news in the home.

Yep, that's what I have. I'll check it again.

I found another problem too. Might be the theme, I know that there was a heap of problems getting it to work. I'm using subSystem as my default.

The other problem is that users can only link to offsite avs. I tried to put some of them back after transfering the db, and when I go into their profile that is the only option. I managed to load one from my computer for myself, but I can't seem to do that for anyone else. I transfered all the exsisting avs with the same directory structure, check the CHMOD it all looks fine. I don't have the faintest clue why I am the only one that can upload from my machine :?

I tried to add the story through submit news and it worked fine, except that I had to OK my own submission. Which is really no big deal.

It didn't work when I used the link for New Story in the Admin modules block. The story was submitted somewhere I just don't have the faintest idea where.

Click on topics on your main page. Or stories archive. Do those work? Got them activated?

Yep they both work, and they show the story that I submitted through submit news but not the one that I did through New story in admin.

Mind you I made that one a programed article, under the topic of fire news. I don't exactly know what programming an article does. The other one that I submitted isn't programmed, just regular submission.

I think the problem with this was programming the article. I have since used the add new story button in the admin block, and it works fine.

The only problem I have is that my server is not actually in North America, when news or some other submission is made the date and time default to the server time. Which is actually a day ahead, so it looks odd when a story is posted Dated Feb 3 when it is only Feb 2. :?

Anyone know how to fix it?

I checked in my db, this is the only code for the time and date I can find, under nuke_pages in the date default.
Code:
0000-00-00 00:00:00
My time is set to En_US in preferences. I know that someone else asked about this before, I can't seem to find the post.

I've also sent an email to my host to find out if they know what it has to be changed to. Will let everyone know if they come up with a solution.
