Hey Guys,
When I use the database backup function in my nuke admin panel does it back up the phpbb forum tables as well?

YES, Only if you have Nuke with phpBB port running as a Module, like here.
If you phpBb is separate, then I beleive it has it's OWN backup database option in it's Admin area.

The nuke backup will back up everything in a database regardless of prefix, including standalone phpbb's.
