If you want to change the footers on your site, that is your choice. WE will leave credits in the footers, but anyone who uses our themes is free to do with them what they wish.
This way is it ever comes back to us, we have nothing to worry about since we distribute our themes with credits in the footers intact.

One of the reasons we've gotten support from the phpbb community is that we port the author's styles "as is", with all credits where they were originally placed.

We have added the author info to the the footer of the site as well, so removing the same info from the forum footer shouldn't be a problem as long as you leave the credits in the site's footer intact. I can't speak for the style authors though, so if you recieve an email from one of them, its up to you to act accordingly.

Removing phpbb's credit is frowned upon, so it would be wise to leave that info in the forum's footer.

is there a way to modify this line :

Web site engine's code is Copyright © 2002 by PHP-Nuke. All Rights Reserved. PHP-Nuke is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL license.

its all in one line and would like to divide it in 2 lines.

That info was hard coded by FB because too many people were removing it.

yes peer is actually quite right. i havent edited the footer or any code within the files (having to do with copyright info) and "Web site engine's code is Copyright © 2002 by PHP-Nuke. All Rights Reserved. PHP-Nuke is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL license." is not included in the footer.

Ok to clear it up for ya'll.
That Web site engine code line is written to the nuke_config Database table.
The way it is included in the footer is by the theme or theme's footer.
Some older themes used with Nuke 5.5 and 5.6 used a different call to show the footer messages.
Example
footer1, footer2, footer3, footer4
However, the new 6.0 nuke does not really use these like it did, it now uses in place of those variables footmsg
So if the theme you use DOES not show the Website engine code line then more than likely it is an older theme. The newer themes and a few of the one's we have recently done here should now be including the footmsg that is used with Nuke6.0

Clear as MUDD!

All the theme packs here at nukemods will have the footers completely fixed next week. It has been on our list of things to do, but as busy as we are, not everything gets done right away.

hehe

Peer is absolutely correct. That's my fault. I didn't realize that using the old style footers in the themes I was doing had that side effect. This will be fixed asap. My apologies. :?

I believe the questions asked have been answered. I'm not comfortable with the continued discussion of the removal of copyright messages.
