Does or Can AOL effect your admin section - 01-27-2003, 01:19 PM

I work from two locations. One at my home office and one at an onsite location where unfortuantely I use a dial up, with AOL version 8.

I was just trying to submit a topic to my forums (http://www.jsm-inc.com) and it keeps telling me that the uname is already taken. :? Is this normal?

Confuseing at least.

To clarify I have not seen that from my home connections and am sure the scripts are working properly. Here at the onsite location however, ghossssssstsss.

any clues

JM

That is wierd, but I have never used AOL. It may handle cookies differently.

Try clearing your temp. internet files and Cookies.
Only advice I have...

I agree with that, maybe some cookie problem

If you want to solve this problem and all your others, take the computer with AOL on it, and set it on Fire. This will solve problems you didnt even know you had...

And you guys wonder why we have people going postal on this site. I use this for a professional web site and burning computers won't unfortunatley solve my issues with this script. Thanks Mike for an honest try at this. The rest of you, you must be Raider fans a stray.

Retribution

You are using the AOL integraded browser yes?

It doesn't play nicely with all things. Open a seperate instance of IE, or whatever other browser you have, just as long as it isn't an integrated one. Try to post that way.

I've had many users have problems with AOL, pre nuke. The problem was fixed with them using a different browser. It has something to do with the cookies only being registered on one page, instead of every page you go to. Since its a business site you might want to add something about using a different browser in your FAQ, if it fixes it.
