Download mods: Can users upload from their local hdd?
Hi,

Thanks for your support.

I'm wondering if there's a facility within nuke to allow users to upload files from their local PC.

The upload process as I understand it involves link to a website. Then from the admin console you grab it and post it if you want it.

I run a Warcraft3 fan site. The game has the ability to save matches as replays.

I'd like to give the users the ability to push a replay to the wesbite from their machine. From there I'd virus scan it and post it in the downloads section. Then over to the forums to discuss if they wanted to.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

But remember that upload only works if your server let you do it.

Free servers like lycos usually don't let you upload by php you must use ftp for the upload.

Im looking for the same thing pretty much... I think one of the guys here are working on one possibly..hope so.. I run a gaming site also.. http://hsk.uzipp.com I want my visitors to have access to upload files and generally maps and screenshots.. its good now with file link and image link but just think if it was set for file upload and image upload and keep the same look.. now that would be awsome and I think alot of peeps want that. I dont know bout nsn downloads.. what does it look like? theres no upload scripts or examples at that link..just 2 download sections and nowhere to test it.. if its the downloads like they have in a long list, I dont like that one..i like the enhanced downloads module look.. with everything in your face..

Why not use My_eGallery. I think they have a version for Nuke6.5 over at http://www.nukecops.com
It is a nice gallery that will display the images as well as allow users to upload.

The last time I used My_eGallery, it has the option for the user to upload the image for the map and then they have to send you the map file. You rename the map file to match the Screenshot filename and then upload it to the same dir. as the Screenshot. Then the screenshot will have th eMap zip associated with it as a download link.

Coolmap.jpg
Coolmap.zip

The other option was to have my users upload the screenshot and map in a zip package, then I would unzip it and submit the screenie for them and then just upload the zip myself via FTP.
It was rather tedious now that I think about it.

lol thats what im trying to avoid.. Delta Force Barracks has a map database...its not php nuke but its php and mysql..i have no clue how to build my own..not familiar with php and mysql as far as writing own scripts..i do know html pretty good and i catch on quick editing things to my liking but php is tough.. http://www.dfbarracks.com you have to register i think to upload a map but if you have time you can register and go thru and upload and see how he has it set up.. its exactly what i need but it could be done different..as long as the map and screenshots are together when people view the download..
