when i edit my post or someone elses post sometimes it says its been edited other times it doesn't.. i also logged on as a normal user and i edited my post but it didn't say it's been edited. not sure why it's choosing to do it on some posts but not others.

I don't think it will show you edited the post unless someone has posted in that topic after your post you are editing. Try editing a post that has posts after it.

I always thought it was whether a user edited (shows edit comment) or a moderator/admin did (does not show).

As long as nobody else has posted after you, no "edited by" message will show when you edit your post. Mods and Admins can edit posts with no "edited by" message.
