[FIXED] install over exsisting phpbb forum
Hi,

I have been looking for a port for some time, I finally decided on Nuke. I've downloaded it. I have also downloaded the forum and the converter from BBtoNuke Port, as well as some mods from here and there. The problem I'm having is I don't know if I should just back up my database, and install right over top, or if I should install it in a completely different area and then try to move it later. (I'll back it up either way )

I'm assuming from reading things here that I install Nuke, then forum port then the converter and import my current phpbb2 database. I haven't had a chance to go through all the docs yet cause I just finished downloading everything, and it looks like it is going to be a major undertaking, I thought I'd ask before I get impatient and do something to seriously bugger the system up. (wouldn't be the first time  )

Suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated. Currently the only part of my site that is php is the forums and chat (phpopenchat, am I going to have to get a different one?) I think I remember one in my search tonight that is supposed to be very compatible, chatbox maybe?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The converter phpbb2 to phpbb nuke caused some problems here. Anyway you can just copy all data cept user table 1 to 1. The user table worked for me though. Just should make the ID-numbers the same as in your old Forum.

Hmmmm... ok now I"m a little concerned. Caused problems on this forum? I know very little about the database. Is there a tutorial or something some where that will tell me how to do that, so I don't seriously screw things up?

I read most of the documents last night, and it seems fairly self explanatory. The only thing I am really wondering about is if I put Nuke in www/www/Nuke, is my current forum going to remain functional, while I install everything since it's located at www/www/forums. They will be installed on the same MySQL database. Does that make sense?

no, nuke shouldnt affect your forums as long as its not in the same sub-directory as your forums

i.e. Forums: www/www/forums
Nuke: www/www/forums

i suggest just installing nuke at www/www/

and keep the forums at www/www/forums

or the way you stated should be fine as well. but let me tell you....it never hurts to back up files, even if you are positive you wont screw them up. i know from experience

Thanks, that's where I'm installing it. FTPing as I type.

I am a little confused about phpbb2 port. The documents read like it will automatically convert my regular phpbb forum to the port. Is this right? I had the impression that I had to use a seperate converter.

Also I was thinking of adding the mods/updates/fixes I downloaded for the port prior to installing it. Will it work if I do that? (I did that for Nuke 6 because it was a straight file exchange)

I have Nuke 6, and phpbb port 2.0.6

no, it does not automatically convert an existing phpBB to the bbtonuke port (dont we all wish it did haha) there is a converter availble for download at tom's site, http://bbtonuke.sourceforge.net

and i definitly would wait until you convert to the port before you add mods.

Ok, I have the converter as well.... some where. Still having some problems getting nuke to run though.

Even tried to install a ported vs. It didn't want to go either. Keeps sending back SQL query errors.

Sooooooo... I have FTP'd the rar file, and my host sys admin is going to unrar it for me there, cause I can't from my CP and hopefully that fixes the problem. If it doesn't I might have to be forced to beat on my computer with a large hammer

HELP, I've buggered something up!
Ok I got Nuke to work, no errors everything was fine.

I installed the port, and got errors, I thought it was because the converter wasn't installed. So I installed the converter. Now I have no idea how to fix it.

When I try to access the forums mod through my admin cp it gives me the following error.

Warning: Failed opening './../config.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/iacoj/www/www/PHP-Nuke/html/modules/Forums/common.php on line 129

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/iacoj/www/www/PHP-Nuke/html/modules/Forums/common.php:129) in /home/iacoj/www/www/PHP-Nuke/html/modules/Forums/common.php on line 133

When I tried to run the converter script it just sat there. It didn't prompt me to go to a different link.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Are you running your config file OUTSIDE your Nuke directory, hence the ./../config.php?

You cannot access the FORUM ADMINISTRATION for PHPBB port through NUKE'S ADMIN PAGE.

Config.php is in PHP-Nuke/html/config.php

Ok I am confused about how to get into the forums then, the instructions said to click on the forum icon from admin, and then tell it to install new db, and follow the instructions.
