Forum Issues
I'm come across some recent issues on my forums, that I hope are very simple to fix.
I'm using smartDark site and forums.
1. When a user logs into my site and goes to the forums, on the main Index the blue icon to show a new post shows up untill they go into that section i.e. General Discussion. When a user goes into the section no post shows up as being recently posted because the blue icon isnt working for some strange reason and I've looked in my FTP just incase the icon wasnt there, but it is, hence leaving me stumped as to what the issue could be.
2. When I click "Your Account" on my site the user profile is different to the "Profile" on the forums, meaning ppl cannot select avatars because it seems to be a different page. (There isnt a link to the edit profile, like you have setup here, with both links directed to edit profile)
Can this be changed within my site to do this?
3. I see you have a link on the top of the forums for ranks. How can I impliment this into my forums?

1. This is a session bug in the Forums. New posts don't stay new for some reason. This issue seems to work a little better in Nuke6.5(not released yet) but is not fully corrected.
2. The only way to let your users select their avatar is for them to go to their FORUM profile. You will have 2 edit profile screens in Nuke6.0 with phpBBport2.0.6. The only work-around is to TRY installing our Forum reg hack. You would then have to search throughout your Nuke/phpBB files for reference links to the Nuke edit profile and change them to the Forum's edit profile. Too much for me to go inot. If you are not a half way experienced user, then I do not recommend this.
3. http://www.anorscorner.com He has a ton of mods like the RANKS one link you see here.

Just curious, but what is the max that can be set for forum sessions?
At the moment mines set at im guessing default 0, can I up this or is that the sessions bug you were on about?
I'm also going to ask if some1 can point me in the direction of a decent FTP user. Basically atm I'm using CuteFTP 5.0 XP, but it wont let me edit files on my FTP, meaning I have to grab files from my FTP Site edit them and then reupload the files, makes editing very slow. Anyothers out there that will allow me to edit files and save time?

You can play with that session setting if you want, but I don't think you will see any positive effects from it.
I use CuteFTP adn manually edit the files then re-upload. But I find it easy myself.
I'm not sure of an FTP client that will allow you to edit php files remotely though...maybe someone else knows of something.

I don't know of an FTP client that allows you to remotely edit, but if you host gives you an admin cp, some of them will allow you edit through there. If you have an admin cp through your host, click on one of the files and see if it opens up. If it does you can edit and save it there.
The problem with remote editing is that if you make your changes directly to the file on the server, and don't backup between each save, you don't have a current file to pop back in there if there is a problem, and installing an old backup can create other problems.
Better to keep a working copy, until you know that your mods don't create errors, and then rename your working file to overwrite the backup.
It might take a little longer, but it's better then having to reinstall, if you can't find the problem in your coding.
