:roll: Does anyone know how to either password protect a forum or how to set it so that only certain members can access it? I had this luxury and need it for the Council in my Mechwarrior unit. I've moved the unit site over and now I have no way of having a forum for Officers only! Any help is greatly appreciated!
ok, im determining that you mean phpBB so heres what you do:
1) go into the admin panel, and go down to group admin - management.
2) create the necessary groups that you need
3) go back to the admin panel. select group admin - permissions.
4) choose the group you want to edit, and it will give you the option to allow access to your private forums.
5)simply edit your groups to your liking.
in order to create a private forum, or to make an existing forum private, go into your admin panel and choose forum admin - permissions. choose the forum you want to make private and change the needed options (i.e. view, read, reply, post new, etc.) to PRIVATE. then re-set the permissions for your group if you need to.
hope that wasnt too confusing, just wanted to go in depth to make sure you got it. and if i completely misinterpreted your question (i tend to do that sometimes :P ) then let me know and i can answer any more of your questions.
