How would i remove the downloads link under my banner? I don't offer any downloads on my website so i have no need for it.

That depends on the theme you use.
Those links in the header are either in
themes/YourTheme/header.html
or
themes/YourTheme/theme.php

I you use one of our themes, those links are in the header.html
