Installing This Type of Forum - 11-11-2002, 11:35 AM

Ok, I am new to PHP Nuke and most everything I am looking at lately ! What I need to know, is how do I install these forums and then what do I edit to link my FORUMS link to it ? And also, Are your themes for Nuke 6.0 ?

Yes all themes on this site are for Nuke 6.0

As for Installing the Forums, they act just like Any Nuke Module. You can visit
http://bbtonuke.sourceforge.net
You can download the port there and follow the instructions included.

where are you changing themes at?

On THIS site, there is only ONE theme to use.

It's really not that hard. A lot like setting up Nuke.

You upload all the Forum files to your modules folder, replace any and all files that came with the port over the top of your original files.

Then activate the Module, run the upgrade script to do new or updated Forum and your done.

The instructions in the README that came with the Forum port explains all this.

As for changing a Theme, I am not sure why on YOUR site you cannot change themes. I'll signup over there and check it out.

Ok on your site, you have 2 themes to choose from. WHere did you get that subblack theme? And did you upload the theme files correctly?

You are right, you cannot change to the subblack theme on your site.

mikem

EDIT
If you feel ok about it, you can PM your FTP info and I can take a look for you at your problems.

If there IS a Config.php file NOW in the Forums folder, delete it and start over.

Installing bbtonuke 2.0.6 from scratch:
---------------------------------------
1) Make sure you have a working Nuke 6 install and you have created a
regular user and the admin user. This version has been specially designed
to work with Nuke 6.0 and should not be used on an older version of Nuke.
2) In case you missed it before, make sure you have a compete backup
of all the files in your website directory and your database!
3) Delete all files in modules/Forums/* (have you read the warning above?)
4) Copy all files from the bbtonuke release archive across to your website.
The directory structure was left in place in the release archive, so it
should be obvious where everything goes. Several regular nuke files will
be overwriten, so if you have made custom changes, you need to migrate those
manually. You'll have to decide which of the Nuke files you'll want to
overwrite, but please be warned that the mods in the files provided are
needed to make the forum work correctly.
5) Log into your wbesite with both your admin and regular user account.
6) Click on the forum link.
7) Fill in the blanks and select "Install new Forum Database".
8) Click on "Save Changes" and the system should take care of the rest and drop
you of in the forum once the install is completed.
9) If you did get an error and wish to report it, please provide as much detail as possible.

I noticed you still have Splatt Forums running. It uses the same folder modules/Forums as the port, so pick the one you want to use and delete the other.

Hey mikem, Thx for all your help, but its not working, so right now I am reinstalling the site to the way it was. If you check your Private Messages on the site, you will get a few explanations of why I am having a hard time
