Member list & Private Messages - 01-30-2003, 11:15 PM

Hello, i would like to know how to point both the "private messages" and the "memberlists" to PHPBB instead of getting the ugly PHP-Nuke "private messages" and "memberlists".

I know it can be done because thats how nukemods.com works.

I would really appreciate any help.

You have to have the phpBB ported Forums installed in place of Splatt forums.
http://bbtonuke.sourceforge.net
Start there.
Once installed, all your links will point to the phpBB ported Forums memberslist and private messages.

Mikem, i already have PHPBB Forums installed however, i used several hacks and at one point the memberlist and the private messages were linked to PHP-Nuke. So, if you or someone else knows which files i should edit in order to link them back to PHPBB.

If you have applied several hacks, then it is impossible for us to tell you where you need to fix some links...

The modules
Private Messages and
Members List
that come with the phpBB port are the New version that replace Nukes PM and Member List modules. ANY links that point to PM or Memberlist SHOULD take you to the Forums MemberList and PM system.

What links are you talking about..can you be more specific?

I am having teh same problem, but I will include a list of all the stuff I used in order (named by their zip files) following the initial upload of nuke 6.0.
The one's listed without a * or + were downloaded from www.nukemods.com
  • - 60sql.zip (nukesql)+
    - phpbb-2.0.6-port-Beta1.zip
    - SecFixes6.zip
    - Forumregistration.zip
    - Your_Account_600_BB_230.zip*
    - block-User_Info.zip
- various theme packs

** downloaded fromwww.nukecops.com
+the link was obtained from "Nuke for Dummies", I'm just a tad too lazy to look up the addy

Oddly, I was just looking for the file I used from nukecops and can't seem to find it. If you would like, I can upload the *.zip or find it and link to it directly....in fact, thats what I'm going to do....tomorrow

recap. I get the broing old Nuke members list + pm combo and like the spiffy phpbb members list and pm combo.

Thanks

Code:
Your_Account_600_BB_230.zip
there's your first problem. You uploaded the Yoru Account tweak after you applied our Forum registration hack. Both of those hacks affect the same file.
You have to make a choice, use one or the other.

I thought so, I was kinda hoping it wasn't going to be a "one or the other" solution. But that's fine.

I had to apply that hack because the webhost I have doesn't allow the mail() function for security reasons....so, new registrations were getting a nasty error instead of an email with a password.

Do you have any advice for me as I try to learn how the hack messes with a good thing to give me a functionality I need?

Besides make backups often
