multible nuke - 02-10-2003, 04:50 PM

ok information please
my web hosting company only allows me to have 3 mysql databases but i want to run more nuke pages. So I changed the stock sql that comes with nuke so the prefixes were diferent. damnuke_ than ran it in php myadmin
the size of my data base doubled. I installed the second nuke and everthing seems to be fine. Now my question can you tell me if what i did is bad and will have any adverse effects such as speed or errors
any help would be appreciated or if there is an easier way to accomplish this please let me know

it all depends on how good your host is. for most pay hosts, that shouldnt cause any problem at all, as long as the nukes are in seperate databases.

Basically you're saying you are using one database to host for 2 nuke sites? But you are simply doing this by having two sets of tables in your database with 2 different prefixes right?

Simple enough, But yes, if you gte a large to substantial amount of trafic, you will notice a slow down. Especially if you have 2 sites accessing the same DB. :?

perhaps you can find another host out there which will supply you with just some MySQL databases to use?

While we on the subject of multi nuke I have a question.

How can I get 3 nuke sites to use the same login and password ?

Each site has there own hosting and DataBase all using the prefix nuke_

youd have to sort that out with each of your hosts. ask them if youre allowed to change your uname/pass, then specify what you want it to be. but usually hosting co.'s arent too fond of that :?

Well, it works for me. I have a Database on one server and my Nuke site files are on a different Server for one of my testsites. My testsite uses the DB from the totally different server and I haven't had any problems.
