OK I am really getting worries - 06-18-2003, 02:33 AM

I reinstalled PHPBB2.0.6 and the problem is still there. The internet explorer pop up is incoming on every page load. Telling me there is one new message in my private message section. I have no messages in the messages inbox? Weird and worried. Someone help me, I am not likin this at all.

OK for those of you who looked at this post in all its pathetic graveling I managed to stop the insanity. I cleared all the tables in teh database that had to do with priv_mssg and it worked. I am concerned whoever that something was corrupted and I was unable to get the real fix for it. Has this happened to anyone else here and if so can you explaine the problem and the fix so If I run into it again I can fix it without having to clear the database?

Thanks a bunch

I was getting two popups for each pm at one time. I asked the users of my board and I was the only one it was happening to. I optimized my tables, then dumped my cookies, temp files (manually deleted them) and rebooted and all was well, it hasn't happened since then.

So we may better understand the problem I can summize that the issue happened when I optimized my database. I have never done this beofre and just did it and suddenly this problem arose. MikeM maybe that is where you can start looking for this bug track. I deleted everything from my database with regards tot eh private messages and the problem whent away. Maybe it has to do with the optimze database function. I would start there as an admin.

I think it has more to do with trhe users session being logged.
It has never been right sonce phpBB was ported to Nuke.
That is why it worked for IACOJ to Optimize his Database. That clears the sessions table.
In your case, some lingering PM's may have been repsent in your pm tables, but in the end, I think if you would have simply Optimized, the problem may have disappeared.
