Php-Nuke/phpbb and among other things. - 11-02-2002, 03:56 AM

First, forgive my "newbie-ness" as I have only learned about php for 2 days (installed nuke and forum just on the 31st, www.dkguild.com). Second, sorry for the length of this post, as I am quite intrigue in the possibilities using php.

I have installed php-nuke and phpbb fine, but, I want to put them together. Since php-nuke has its built in messageboard, forums points to it. How do I make forums point to phpbb? I edited the header to make it point to forums, but i want the forums to show within the main page.

I installed phpbb on another mysql database in fear that the database might go bad and both the webpage and messageboard will go down. Was this a bad thing to do? Would it be easier to put it on the same mysql database? Or does it matter in integrating the site?

I don't want to make the message board itself show like it is in the site, but I want to designate a forum for "news" to be posted and then the content of the news is put in the the main page.

One thing I found about php-nuke is that its very hard to organize things as someone thats just learning (newbie). Is it possible to point a "module" to a different block? I want to customize a block in which I am able to put all the "user" related links on one, and webpage related on another, etc...

Finally, I am looking for a module (if it exist), I want people(guild members) to be able to put the info/image, even screenshots, by themselves. This is going to be a game related webpage so it needs to be somewhat customizable for what infos can be added.

Again, sorry for the long post and questions, still new and learning =/.

Thanks in advance.

The PHPBB Forums SHOULD be used within Nuke and your Database. You should install it as a Module.
All you need to do is follow the instructions that came with the phpBB port from Toms' site. It will replace the Splatt forums that are currently in Nuke.

As for Blocks. You can customize the blocks anyway you like. Just takes some time to learn. :?
You can use HTML in a Block that you create in the Nuke Admin/Blocks.

There is a lot to Nuke and it can be overwhelming, but take your time, you'll get it.
