Site Not Loading
Hey all,
I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Today I uploaded the smartDark theme to my site, and got it up and running. I attempted to change everyone's theme to this new one with an SQL Script (UPDATE nuke_users SET theme="smartDark" WHERE 1; ). It kept giving me SQL errors, so I gave up. But now, my site doesn't load at all. It seems like it is running something, but nothing ever loads. I have waited for the site to load for over an hour. Anyone have any clue? www.radical-force.com
BTW my host says that MySql is up and running fine.
Thanks,
PaulRevere46

No I sure didn't. I definitely should have though. I backed it up as soon as the site stopped loading. Do you think my db is screwed?

Contact your host and find out when the last time was they did a db backup, and find out if they can restore it for you.
You might loose some posts and things, but it is probably better then trying to manually edit your tables.
How many themes does your site have?

Around 6 or 7. Also, I was just reading through a faq on my Host's website, and it says they don't back-up sites. It is the users responsiblity.

A lot of providers say that they don't do backups, but you should find that they have some sort of back up - just in case things go wrong at their end. The "we don't back up sites, its your responsibility" is just to stop everyone mailing them all the time requesting backups. I'd ask nicely, you may be lucky..............

Can you post the exact script that you tried to run on your Database to change everyone's themes?
I don't think all is lost yet...

Completely unusable, I wouldn't say that.
I suppose it depends on how much patience you have, and how much you know about what the tables should look like, without a backup you would have to manually go in and check each one. Plus you should probably check your html files for errors that have been inserted, because sometimes they get put in the actual file instead of being displayed on the page.
To be honest I have no idea what that command did to your db, or why it is cycling the way it is.
I would talk very nicely to your host, most do a backup once a week whether they admit it or not. If you can get them to restore it, that would save you a heap of work. Depending on where the sys admin is for your host you might have to wait until the morning. It probably isn't something that tech support can do, as they don't usually have direct access to the db. They can look but not touch. IF you are really lucky they do their backups on Sunday night.
The only other thing I can think of is deleting the theme, and remove all occurances of that theme in the backup of your db. Drop what is tthere now, and loading the backup. I have no idea if that would actually work, if you are really lucky the themes were the only thing affected and any that did get changed to that theme will default to the next working theme.
Have you contacted your host about it, other then to find out if there was a problem with MySQL?

The exact SQL Script was:
UPDATE nuke_users SET theme="smartDark" WHERE 1;
I did contact my host about restoring, but I probably won't get a response until the morning. I will try those suggestions, hopefully something magically works.
I truly appreciate all your help,
